My Tlingit name is Tsootsun Tlaa; I am Tsimshian, Tlingit and Haida. My English
name is Sandy Churchill, born and raised in Wrangell, Alaska to Eddie Pat and Ethel Churchill. I started ANS when I was 16. I received the college scholarship when I was
17 going to Sheldon Jackson. I helped with the conventions held in Wrangell at the
old gym, and during the 100th ANS Anniversary I served as President. It was quite the undertaking after serving as Secretary and Vice President for several years. I have run
for Grand Secretary, Grand Second Vice and Grand First Vice President. Thank you for voting me in as your Grand First VP; it’s an honor to serve. My other job for the past
20 years is the Lead Teacher and Mentor Coach for Tlingit and Haida Head Start. I
have my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and Family Services. My 3
adult children are Lacey, Justin and Joel. My beloved Jim recently passed away in September 2018 after 26 years together. We have three grandchildren, Gavin, Syler
and Finley.
